Famous for its lush green hillsides turquoise water and some of the best beaches in Greece including the iconic Shipwreck Beach the island is lush and a haven for nature. Zante’s longest beach Laganas Bay which stretches for 9km of golden sand is a famous nesting area for loggerhead sea turtles.
Zante is also renowned for its Italiante style 18th-century architecture and Venetian Walls, much of which was destroyed in a 1953 earthquake. It was once known as the Venice of the East with its neoclassical influences and gracious public buildings still stand along with its fine centrepiece Plateia Solomou the restored waterfront square. The town stretches beyond the length of the wide and busy harbour. Adults and children alike will be amazed at everything Zakynthos island has to offer.
