Overlooking beautiful Chrysochous Bay in the foothills of the Troodos mountains, Polis is a delightful place. Just 45 minutes from Paphos airport, this small town at the north-west end of the island with its pedestrianised town centre is awash with sandstone buildings a mixture of restaurants, bars and souvenir shops. Near the town square the Church of Agios Andronikos has some stunning 16th century wall paintings which are worth viewing and the Polis archaeological museum has some fascinating finds.
Polis one of many small traditional villages in this area, is also close to the magnificent Akamas peninsula nature reserve with its valleys, gorges and wide sandy bays and the fishing port of Latchi. Traditional tavernas along the waterfront here are the perfect pitstop to sample local speciality 'Fish Meze' a mixture of the freshest catches of the day. Polis is a superb base on the island of Cyprus as it is also not far from the Blue Lagoon with its crystal blue waters, perfect for snorkelling.
