Ayia Napa & Protaras, Cyprus

Easy-going Protaras is a modern holiday resort with spectacular scenery close to Ayia Napa which is about 10km away. Ayia Napa or (Agia Napa) is renowned for its partying and vibrant nightlife but is also a great destination for families. Some of the best beaches are here on the rugged southeast coast, notably Blue Flag-awarded Nissi Beach with its sweeping 500m stretch of soft white sand. Whether you want to sunbathe all day or try some watersports from banana boat rides to water-skiing, you can do everything here.

Protaras promenade is shoulder-to-shoulder with atmospheric cafes, bars and restaurants including traditional tavernas and though quieter than Ayia Napa is a spirited resort. Protaras is also renowned as a diving destination with avid scuba divers and those wanting to learn visiting popular dive sites such as Green Bay, an underwater world of amazing sealife including cuttle fish, pipe fish even octopus.

Along the coast the traditional Cypriot village of Paralimni is a lovely place to visit with its charming shops and pretty village square and for its nature and amazing scenery Cape Greco, an unspoilt area of great natural beauty nestled midway between Ayia Napa and Protaras. There’s ancient sea caves and coastal hiking trails to explore plus ancient sites to marvel at such as ruins of a temple once devoted to Aphrodite.
