Molyvos
The ancient town of Mythimna, as it was called in antiquity and even today. Molyvos is perched high on a hillside and dominated by its imposing medieval castle, really is a picturesque sight. Its charming, colourful harbour dotted with cafes, fish tavernas and shops will entice you with its relaxed and warm hospitality. Its traditional architecture reflects the social life of the past, with some aristocratic mansions restored with great affection and care revealing their glorious past. A maze of cobbled winding streets leading from the harbour into the heart of the village with its pretty little squares where the locals gather to catch up on the days news over a game of backgammon.There’s an arts festival that takes place each summer within Molyvos castle. Molyvos also boats a long stretch of pebble beach with some watersports available in the summer. Eftalou, less than 10 minutes drive away, also boasting long stretches of pebble beach but is most famous for its natural hot springs.
