The city of Abu Dhabi is built on a island and despite being less famous than it's neighbour Dubai, is actually the capital of the United Arab Emirates, indeed the Emirate itself accounts for around 86% of the entire countries landmass.

Obviously the development that has taken place has been made possible by the vast wealth created in the country by the export of oil. This is reflected in the impressive architecture found throughout the city.

The city skyscrapers, reflecting the blue waters of the Arabian Gulf, contrast dramatically with the golden sands of the desert and the white sands of the beach which are fringed by the recently renovated Corniche area.
