With a short transfer time, a wealth of history, a bustling town centre and some excellent hotels, Larnaca offers a tempting alternative from the more popular Cypriot resorts for a sunshine break.
Larnaca is a classic mix of sophistication and culture and the whole area is steeped in rich history.
The main town itself has an attractive palm lined promenade that runs from the marina along the sea front and where a whole host of varied local and international restaurants offer a wonderful spot for a leisurely lunch.
The surrounding narrow streets are full of boutiques, craft shops and more cosy bars and tavernas. The coastal road heading east is where you can find the featured Amathus hotels, all facing the beach and within a short drive of the centre of bustling Larnaca town.
Equally impressive is the Larnaca Medieval Museum built in 1625 and the Hala Sultan Tekesi Mosque, revered as an important place of Moslem pilgrimage. One of the first sights you'll notice as you arrive at the airport are the expansive salt lakes which attracts flocks of flamingos and many other species of migrating birds, a must visit for enthusiastic ornothologists.
