Holidays in Skiathos Town

The cosmopolitan island’s capital, Skiathos Town with its shops, bars and entertainment is located on the eastern coast of Skiathos. This pretty town is divided in two by Bourtzi Peninsula. The east side of the town is the more modern part with trendy bars, international restaurants and stylish shops, and the west is more traditional with its historical harbour with traditional tavernas and stone cottages. The Bourtzi is a wooded peninsula situated between the old harbour and the new ferry port. There is an old stone school building, an open-air theatre and a traditional Greek kafenion (coffee shop) on the peninsula making it an interesting place for visits. Narrow cobbled streets, traditional whitewashed houses and cozy tavernas are built on the hillside and waterfront offering beautiful views over the historical harbour with its pretty wooden fishing boats. On the other side of the peninsula, trendy bars, stylish shops and modern eateries sit close to the new ferry boat which is much bigger and busier than the historical harbour. Skiathos Town is a beautifully diversity town offering fun and lively atmosphere with stunning views over the Aegean Sea.

The closest beach is the neighbouring Megali Ammos, which is located within a walking distance (1 km south). Local buses are affordable making Skiathos Town a wonderful base to explore the entire island.
