Holidays in Skiathos
Idyllic sandy bays, turquoise sea, never ending olive groves and a movie-star’s setting, Skiathos hit it big after the famous movie ‘Mamma Mia!’ which was filmed on the island in 2008. The beaches are some of the best in Greece and with over 60 to choose from, they don’t get overcrowded and busy. Most of the beaches offer calm and safe swimming conditions and a range of water sport to keep the more active holidaymakers busy.

The beaches are some of the best in Greece and with over 60 to choose from, they don’t get overcrowded and busy. The beaches are pristine and clean - this combined with beautiful weather and turquoise sea has proven to be a winning combination. The beach of Koukounaries has been voted as the 3rd most beautiful beach in the Mediterranean. The liveliest beach is called Banana (or Krassa Bay) and offers a range of water sport activities and beachside bars and restaurants. Banana’s little sister, Little Banana, is located close to Banana, but offers much more tranquil and secluded setting. The western part of the island offers more authentic beaches with limited facilities, and less people. The lush interiors and pine-clad hills provide an excellent setting for flora, fauna and hiking enthusiasts.
Skiathos Town entertains every taste and age with a wide variety of amazing restaurants dotted along Old Harbour serving some of the most delicious food from the typical Greek cuisine to some outstanding international fusion cuisine.
The pedestrian street by the Old Harbour is the ultimate party location for evening entertainment. And the area of Ammoudia features a selection of open-air clubs which get very busy during the summer months. Tear yourself away from the busy main waterfront and visit Bourtzi which is a small peninsula with lush vegetation and known for its medieval fortress. Bourtzi also hosts some fantastic open-air concerts at summer time.
The picturesque harbour surrounded by four small islets is beautiful. Enjoy daily trips out to the sea; whatever you fancy from sunbathing on one of the large catamarans to a day out deep sea fishing to island hopping to one of the other beautiful Greek islands (neighbouring Skopelos is only one hour ferry ride away), you will have an abundance of options to choose from.
The scenic island of Skiathos offers an easy-going holiday experience with lush landscape, beautiful beaches and happening towns. The island is cosmopolitan and offers very sophisticated ambience and a range of sumptuous hotels. Skiathos oozes glamour with Skiathos Town’s chic boutiques and eateries, tempting antique shops and sleek luxury yachts moored in the lovely harbour.
