Holidays in Oia

Postcard-perfect scenery - Oia is one of the prettiest villages in the Mediterranean! The famous whitewashed houses with delightful wooden shutters and doors, expansive terraces and blue-domed churches, Oia (pronounced ‘ia’) nestles on the northern coast of Santorini high up on an impressive cliff. Oia is famous for its idyllic architecture - and the most spectacular sunset on the island! This little haven is an ideal location for honeymoons and romantic holidays. Oia is a mini-version of the capital, Fira - but simply more beautiful, less crowded and much more tranquil. It is located 11 km north from the capital - so all of Fira’s temptations are within easy reach. Quiet cobbled street, charming houses, picturesque churches (one of which has been featured on numerous travel magazines and holiday brochures) and friendly local people make Oia a hugely appealing destination.

The narrow village streets have plenty of cafes, bars and tavernas. Art & craft, jewellery and souvenir shops can be found as well - and there are many art galleries due to Oia’s popularity among artists.

Oia has a small harbour and a lovely beach called Armenis - both of which are accessible by an impressive set of 300 steps leading down to the shoreline.
