Holidays to Rhodes town

Rhodes Town, located on the northern tip of the island, wonderfully combines the old and the new. Walk through the gates of the medieval town (‘Old Town’) into the winding narrow streets and step back in history. The oldest inhabited walled medieval town in Europe and full of mosques, traditional fountains, oriental motifs, churches, shops and cafes, the Old Town is a bustling neighbourhood of 6,000 inhabitants. Many of the cobbled streets and alleyways are unnamed - so getting lost is an almost guaranteed adventure! The modern, ‘New Town’ is full of fantastic buildings, churches and markets. There are three harbours - the most picturesque is the yacht harbour of Mandraki which offers a beautiful setting with the nearby lighthouse tower of St. Nicholas and three old windmills. For culinary options, the waterfront tavernas in the harbour serve fantastic traditional island food, whilst the Old Town has some fabulous meze restaurants. The New Town has a selection of chic bars and clubs, whilst the Old Town offers more mellow options with local music. The best shopping can be found within the Old Town walls, on Sokratous Street in the Turkish quarter.

Nearly 300 days a year sunshine, Rhodes Town has a long shingle beach with good swimming conditions. A range of water sport is offered including snorkelling and scuba diving in the clear Aegean waters.
