The home of romance and love, Paphos area is famous for being the land where the Goddess of Love, Aphrodite, once roamed. She was believed to have risen from the waves in the sea by the rocks known as Petra tou Romiou, which is about 35 km from Paphos and easily accessible by a hire car.

The Paphos area is fairly cosmopolitan with international hotels and amenities making it an ideal wedding and honeymoon destination. The town consist of two areas : the coastal resort of Kato Paphos and the old town of Pano Paphos, which is inland on a slightly elevated position. The pretty harbour at Kato Paphos is the centre point on the coastal area with its many shops, bars and restaurants. The harbour is also home to its cute resident pelicans.

Paphos was once the Roman Capital of the island and has plenty of historic ruins and beautiful mosaics to remind you of the town’s brilliant past. Paphos enjoys magnificent archaeological legacy and the entire area has been included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list.

There are plenty of places to wine and dine in Paphos and you will find somewhere that suits all tastes. Try some pretty Cypriot and Greek restaurants by the sea with a fantastic atmosphere and delicious traditional cuisine. A wealth of other restaurants are represented too from Chinese, Lebanese, Italian and French to small cafes and international fast food. Nearly all hotels have their own restaurants and snack bars that offer international dishes and sometimes have themed nights. Most of the restaurants in Paphos are family friendly and children are very welcome.

Paphos has plenty of nightlife to keep you entertained when the sun goes down. A street nicknamed "Bar Street" is home to numerous bars, pubs and clubs and the whole street is dedicated to ensuring that you have a fantastic night out! If you prefer a more quiet night out there are plenty of small tavernas and pubs throughout the resort that offer a relaxed and laid back atmosphere and sometimes have traditional entertainment, and some hotels have their own evening entertainment programme with an animation team.

Paphos has so much to see and do, and subsequently has captured the hearts of many holidaymakers who return year after year! Admire the historical sites of the intricate floor mosaics in five houses at the Archaeological Park dating back to the Roman period, the underground Tombs of the Kings carved out of solid rock and the St. Paul’s Pillar. The "Odeon Theatre" is a world famous amphitheatre that despite its small size hosts a variety of summer concerts.

The beaches are lovely and offer a range of water sport to keep the most active entertained - and many hotels and resorts enjoy a beautiful seaside location. The Aphrodite Water Park offers an exciting day out for people of all ages with a good selection of thrilling water shoots, lazy rivers and kids slides.
